I know, I know. Toddlers are not supposed to wear makeup and clothes for adult women. I know. But this is not the typical sad story with two parents who didn’t make it and want their child to live the dream they never had the chance to.
This story starts with a powerful message.
This whole project started when Scout’s grandma, Nonnie, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
After six rounds of chemo, Nonnie’s hair started to fall out. The family needed something to keep their minds busy. That was when Scout’s parents decided to remind everyone that “women are fighters,” as they told People Magazine. So, they picked a bunch of female fierce celebrities to teach her about female power.
Scout’s mother had everything planned ahead. Every time they chose one of the celebrities they had in their pool, she would teach her daughter a couple of things about their personality and why they are considered fighters. The list of the celebrities did not just include big names like Adele but also some of Nonnie’s favorite personalities, like Ellen.
The family hopes that this project helped Scout get how important women are and that when she grows up she will eventually understand the strength she is portraying in these pictures. “When Scout looks back on this, she is proud of who she is and who she will become,” he mother says.
Also, you don’t have to worry. Her parents say that even though Scout portrayed so many important icons, they encourage her to become the person she wants to be.
Oh, and the best part? Nonnie is cancer free!
