Admired figure and celebrity Adam West, best known for his role in the 1960’s television adaptation of the Batman comic, died this past Friday due to leukemia complications. He was 88 years old.
Adam’s role on the Batman TV show is what catapulted him into stardom. West played the series’s titular character Batman as well as his alter-ego Bruce Wayne. The show ran for three seasons, and syndication has allowed it to be enjoyed by both young and old fans up to the current day.
West attributed his success to his unforgettable voice. His vocal talent helped him land punchline after punchline in his nearly two-decade long performance as The Mayor on family guy. 2 years ago he told CNN, “If I pick up a telephone and make an international call, the operator knows my voice immediately, as does everybody else.”
