Get ready NBA Live gamers, the girls are coming to play. EA Sports has just announced that they will be adding WNBA teams to the newest edition of their classic NBA Live Franchise. Although the WNBA has been around for over 20 years, NBA Live has never included them in any of their installments.
Now, gamers get to play with any of the 12 WNBA franchises and their players. NBA Live Executive Producer Sean O’Brien worked closely with the WNBA and the Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) to make the game come to life. WNBA President Lisa Borders has also expressed her excitement with the new game.
The idea for the game is not new. EA Sports added female soccer teams to their FIFA game series two years ago. FIFA 16 integrated women’s soccer teams and players into the game database. Gamers could choose their favorite female teams and players. Gamers could choose from 12 international soccer teams such as Italy or Sweden. Female teams compete with other female teams.
In the past, iconic female WNBA players such as Lisa Leslie and Sue Bird were recreated as players in a street ball NBA game but this is the first time that entire WNBA teams will be represented.
The newest features of NBA Live 18 include dribble system, real player movement, and in the post. They also have a new way to play characters such as The One. Which is a character journey based on a player you select. You follow their progression from street baller to professional hooper.
You can also play the Franchise option which gives you the power of a team owner. You get to draft players, make trades, and build your own NBA superteam. You can also build an Ultimate Team using NBA players from the past and current stars.
Free demos will be available for PSA and XBOX One in August. The game will be officially released in Fall 2017.
