According to Saveabull, an organization devoted to saving pit bulls nationwide, about 75% of municipal shelters euthanize pit bulls immediately upon intake. This means that they -never- get a chance at adoption. Worse yet, even the ones who are given a chance are first on the list when overcrowding forces euthanasia.
Research estimates that just one in around 600 pit bulls will find a permanent home.
The subjects of Gamand’s Flower Power campaign are shelter dogs, many of which have not been adopted yet. For a full list of adoptable pit bulls (with pretty pictures!) visit her website.
